For over 10 years, I have been unlocking the guitar for students of all levels and varied interests. I have taught kids, teenagers, and adults and have directed music ensembles as well. My vast teaching experience as well as my performing and recording experience have helped me see that all students learn differently. As a result, I custom tailor each lesson to fit the individual student's aspirations and musical goals. I do, however, insist that all students learn the fundamentals of guitar and music, not because I subscribe to a rigid dogmatism but because I believe that all guitar students NEED to master the basics of hand technique, reading, and ear training in order to reach their full potential. But above all, I believe that learning guitar takes great patience (both on my part and the students) and should be fun! I offer lessons at my Center City location or can travel to you if need be. I also teach in New York City on a consistent basis. Thank you for your interest! -Max Fisher

Testimonial:
Max is an outstanding guitar teacher in all styles. I came to him after about 6 years of just learning tabs on the internet and having friends teach me guitar here and there during college. I couldn't really keep time and played pop songs by strumming 2 or 3 chords. On a recommendation from a friend of mine, I took lessons from Max every week and after one year, I was writing my own songs, playing in bands, reading music, understanding theory, and playing my first PAID gigs! Max gave me a strong foundation in all styles of guitar, from classical to rock to blues and jazz. Once I had that base, I could draw from it when writing my own music. He also helped me to understand how music works, giving me a taste of theory so that I could think about how I approach songs in different ways. All the while, he had me do vital drills to build up the muscles in my fingers so that I could get the most out of every sound that I make. In one year, Max had me playing better than I ever thought I was capable of, simply because I practiced what he told me to do every single day. On top of all this, Max is just a good person and a kind and patient teacher. He adjusted his teaching to what I specifically wanted to learn and kept me focused on my goals of becoming a successful guitar player and songwriter. I am eternally grateful to him for helping me become what I always wanted - a real musician! -Dave Robinson
